Credit Card Payment Fraud Indictments for Bankcard Empire Owner

Leslie Spencer Mersky of Scottsdale was indicted on charges of fraud and related crimes Tuesday after a search warrant was served on his business, Bankcard Empire of Phoenix. The indictment alleges that Mersky told employees to cut and paste signatures from customers into unauthorized credit card payments. Officials said that there have been numerous consumer complaints about Bankcard Empire.

The 64-year-old Scottsdale man made fraudulent charges to customers' credit card accounts after selling them expensive "business opportunity packages" through the Internet, according to the Arizona Attorney General's Office.

Authorities served a search warrant on the business two months ago, and Mersky was indicted on charges of fraudulent schemes and artifices, forgery, theft and aggravated identity theft.
