Forrester Research recently conducted a survey of more than 14,000 European online adults. Findings include the rejection of mobile commerce in Europe. Adoption rates for mobile payments remains very low, and just 2 percent of respondents reported purchasing products from their mobile phone and only 5 percent are actually interested in doing so.
Browsing for products and services is the most popular commerce-related activity on a mobile device, however only 7 percent of online buyers purchase items. European studies indicate that shopping is becoming less and less popular as an activity with an emphasis on more focused purchasing.
MSRN research has found that as the trend to a devotion to local commerce increases and the growing lack of interest in purchasing novelty items increases purchasing items through mobile commerce will not follow suit. Traditional credit and debit card purchases should remain the preferred payment solution, with the growth of debit and stored value cards purchases increasing at much faster rates.
